Hong Kong advertisement will not die

CEO of The Bees Group KK Tsang said today in Hong Kong Shue an University that advertising industry of Hong Kong would be in slump even it is facing different problems.


He described the advertising industry is “ sick” as those who worked in the industry only focus on getting awards, “just like jerking off in a closed room”. He said that, compared to Mainland China, Hong Kong is a relatively small market. For more sustainable development of the company, entering China market is just a matter of time. But he emphasized that, Hong Kong’s advertisement can only be produced by Hong Kong people as creative industry is an industry full of local characteristics. Thus, Hong Kong advertisement would not be produced by Mainland producer.

Asked if there is any method can be done by the government to stimulate creative industry, he urged the government not to intervene because if the whole industry cannot solve the problem in a creative way, they does not deserve the name of “creative industry”. He also criticized the management level of advertising industry of being parsimonious to staffs. Those who contribute the most could not get relevant bonus at the end of year. He said this doing will discourage the entrance of passionate people to this industry.
