TV news in Hong Kong always be formal and rigid, it is because they always have lots of excuses for not making changes.

“Hong Kong journalism is too rigid,” Wong Kit Ling said, the executive deputy controller of TVBS MEDIA INC. said at a Hong Kong Shue Yan University forum yesterday. Hong Kong journalism sector always refuses to change, unlike Taiwan, Hong Kong journalism will not involve any new technology, they always blame on no human resources, no money and no time. But in Taiwan, they will spend more than one month on preparations, there is no excuse, she added. “Make Hong Kong journalism become more lively and sticks to people.” She encouraged young people to make changes in the future.

“VR 360 bring us happiness,” she said. VR technology is very popular in Korea, especially the application of VR 360,she added. “VR 360 can shorten the distance between human,” she said. She take a story of a family as an example, “ there is an old man whose family members are living in America and Australia, but he is too old to travel oversea. With the VR 360, he can know how the family members are going and see what their house looks like.” Beside of bringing people happiness, VR 360 is very useful for advertising, she added.

“TVBS is the reason I stay in Taiwan,” she said. There are so many different media in Taiwan, but most of them have a specific political standpoint, which are pan-Green and pan-Blue coalition. But TVBS doesn’t has a political standpoint, therefore she rather stay in Taiwan than Hong Kong, she added.

Wong Kit Ling was born in Hong Kong and graduated from National Chengchi University. She has 25 years of Television editing and broadcasting experience. She has received several journalism awards in Taiwan.--165054 2018年10月30日 (二) 17:39 (CST)
