Industrialization was a key point for performing arts in Hong Kong to breakthrough,

said Tang Shu Wing, the artistic director of Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio.

“It does not only cover the cost, but also make profit in the long run,” said Tang.

Tang believed industrialization had to emphasize the percentage increase in economic level.

Besides, cultural, political, economic action and tourism should have been included and combined.

Lion King and the Phantom of the Opera were examples of the well-known and praiseworthy shows and

they had been performed around the world for years. “Hong Kong has to create its own long-lived

shows in order to promote and develop performing arts,” said Tang.

Talking about street performance in Hong Kong, Tang said it could allow artists to walk out of the

theatres and communicate with citizens directly.

“You can make a live if you do it well and the elements in the streets can always inspire you of

some creative ideas,” he said.
