KK Tsang: HK has no advantage yet promising development in advertising

KK Tsang, the CEO of The Bees Group, said that HK actually got no comparative advantage in advertising industry but the need of localization would allow the promising development of it.

Tsang described the advertising industry is entering ‘The Ice Age’ and pointed out that misallocation of the profit and narcissism are the two maladies which lead to the shrinking of advertising business.

He elaborated that many employees who are in middle or lower level actually have spent much effort but earn an unreasonable return. Moreover, some companies produce advertisements that aim at winning awards solely, which have twisted the original goal of helping their customers to build the brand and increase the profit.

He said that the support from government is useless because the problems in creative industry should be solved by creative means with the people within that industry. Also, he is confident that people in this field have the ability to do so.

Still, Tsang showed his positive attitude towards the development in advertising industry. “In long run,I believe only Hong Kong people can serve Hong Kong market well.’
