The future of terrestrial of television in Hong Kong is now full of uncertainty. Mr. Lee Po On, TVB Executive Director and Group Manager, believed that the television field is a business family and under fair competition. However different companies should apply the right solution to the problem in this circumstance.


Advertisement is the main revenue for a television station. Mark said that advertising company would properly choose particular television station based on rating. New television station needs time to build up or make good relationship with these advertising companies. It is not easy for a new television station to get huge amount of advertisements in a short period of time.


Advertisements support consistent development for a television station. Mark also pointed out some statistics to explain the profit and loss between TVB, ATV and also CTI. CTI has a great production cost at this moment but without a good revenue for supporting. ATV has a relatively low production cost and low advertising revenue. As a result, ATV’s loss will be lower than that of CTI. Mark did not exactly point out which station would turn down first but he is confidence in such a competition.
