MoJo is Not Fundamental

Reporter:--095124 楊秀文 YEUNG, SAU MAN 2012年4月3日 (二) 23:53 (UTC)

With the development of technology, mobile journalism (MoJo) became more popular. As this technology is easy to achieve, citizens can also be reporters.

"A good journalist should have the skills that not many people have," Stephen Quinn said. Quinn is the digital development editor of the South China Morning Post Group. He was a teacher of journalism in college.

MoJo is rising and journalists is not as professional as in the past, Quinn said it is not healthy to continue.

"People think journalists are unprofessional because many of them are copy-cat. Whenever there is a break of news, they all follow. They do not know how to discover their own story. Better education can be the solution of this problem," he said.

He said a professional journalist should continue his or her creativity and it is essential to "have your unique selling point".

"Keep training and learning about new technology to make yourself ahead of everyone else. Also, always look for elements that make yourself different with others," he concluded.
