One of the competitors who are applying for the licenses, City Telecom Limited, has been headhunting actors and behind the scene crews from TVB. Lam suggested that although crews in this industry will have more choice than before with the new competitors entering the market, they shouldn’t be too anxious in hopping to another broadcasting companies. Instead, they should first consider and observe the industry environment and situation before deciding if they would hop to the new companies or not. However, he said that for the entrants and people with few year experiences, this is a chance for them. He suggested them to grab and treasure the chance as it might not exist frequently. If they missed the valuable chance, they may need to wait for a long period of time for the coming of the next chance.

About the new companies that are planning to enter the television broadcasting industry, he commented that they might not have ability to produce high quality programs in a short period of time. He stated that TVB, the biggest television broadcasting company in Hong Kong, has more resources than others, which are able to produce better programs. For the new competitors, he said that it is difficult for them to produce soap operas, especially those with high qualities. In order to produce a soap opera, he said, need a huge back up team. It doesn’t only mean the demand of shooting scenes, but also the demand of behind the scene crews and actors. Big companies are able to hired large amount of actors and actresses. Some dramas, especially those are highly invested to be the highlight drama of the year, casts included in them are mostly recognizable. Big companies are able to afford using outmoded stars as casts or even carefrees, which the small-in-scale companies are not able to have this kind of cast. He said that with the lack of resources, it is hard for them to produce their own soap operas which are in high quality.
