【10th November, 2015 Ellen Wong】The fund of FactWire could only run for 12 months. Ng Hiu-tung, the founder of FactWire, hoped FactWire news could develop great impact and let the media felt it was worth to buy.

Ng had raised HKD$4,700,000 and established the first press agency of investigation news reporting in Hong Kong, called FactWire. Ng said, he planned to use up all fund raised to pay for the salaries of 12 reporters for 12 months. He struggled to develop a great impact for FactWire in the first year. ‘The quantity of news is not important, but the impact is.’ He hoped that media would buy FactWire news after they watched it. Therefore, he would provide free news to the media for trial.

‘News and media is two different things.’ Ng said, FactWire focused on news, instead of entertaining the audience. He thought news reporting was classified as public service, press agency should not put profit making in the first priority. He emphasized, FactWire would only report the truth. It would not adjust the angle of news reporting in order to cater the preference of audience.

Ng planned to start collect FactWire service fee in the second season of 2017. He aimed to charge each media HKD$200,000 for each year. Ng targeted to operate this service for the media around the world.
