‘I agree that all people can be a civic journalist, but it cannot replace the professional journalist,’ said a journalist.

Today's technology can be used as a communication medium at any time, said Eva Lee, the manager of Content Bureau of Corporate Affairs of Alibaba Group, at Shue Yan University weekly forum.

Lee has worked as a financial journalist in newspapers, news agencies and iMoney magazine. She is experienced in media industry that she has interviewed many business celebrities as well.

Lee said, anyone can take out their mobile phones, take photos or videos and upload them online, but it is difficult for the general public to analyze the issues from professional reporters’ angle and bring out the newsworthiness.

‘The news release on the Internet not only pursuing timeliness, but also need to maintain its newsworthy,’ she said.

Nowadays, people used to browse news online, especially through social media platform, thus printed media is facing the crisis of being eliminated. ‘Printed media should adapt and embrace new trend so as to keep developing,’ said Lee.
