A famous financial anchor says, wanting to be a successful financial anchor must build up a reliable image, as every word to investors is very important.

Leung Sam-yan said, saying correct messages was the main way to build trust and reputation with the audiences, as the messages from financial anchors would bring a huge consequence to the investors. She added, the financial market was evolving in every moment, so being a financial anchor not only be sensitive to numbers and units and also be hard-working to read the stock document and realize the stock market.

Financial journalism industry was not an individual work but was a teamwork, so Leung said to students in Hong Kong Shue Yan University who wanted to be financial anchors had to be outgoing and willing communicate with others. And she suggested the fresh graduates who wanted to become a financial anchors or a financial host to download some apps, for example, Sina Finance, etc. to learn more stock knowledges.

Different between financial anchor and financial host

Financial anchor is different with financial host, financial host needed to know many financial knowledge, as the investors would more rely on the message of them, Leung added, “The financial anchors are now using Cantonese to write their scripts, however, some financial jargons such as Baltic Dry Index cannot be expressed in Cantonese”.
