STEM different from the traditional education and the coding can use to educate students in a new and fun way, says a founder.

“STEM can lead the students to think which is different from the traditional learning,” said Moni YL Law, a Founder & CEO of ICanCode. STEM means science, technology, engineering, and mathematics which brought benefits more than drawbacks to students, STEM focused on interactive teaching which was driven by student and could lead students to learn knowledge, it was different to the traditional teaching which was one-way, she said. “Our company will focus on creating the contents that match with the age and making it affordable in the future”, the balance between the resources, environment and teachers were needed, she said.

Moni YL Law graded from BBA master of University of Leicester which focused on IT development. She worked in IT related industries for more than a decade, such as Samsung and Fujitsu etc. In 2016, she set up ICanCode which promoted STEM and provided a new learning platform for the next generation through innovative ideas, products and services, including computer programming, robotics and STEM courses.

People could learn coding easily on the internet by themselves, Google provided many videos and courses on the web, people could learn coding step by step, she said. She agreed with the Japanese researcher who found that life became intelligent, such as a robot found in the restaurant which can make the fried rice. As coding was easy for self-learning, she thought it was difficult to criticize the value of human, “I don't know whether the robot will replace human and their jobs and whether the value of human will decrease, but using robots is a trend now,” she said, who was speaking at Hong Kong Shue Yan University talk today.

She believed coding would become the trend of the world, more schools would add coding as a compulsory course like Japan and Taiwan.--165031 2019年2月12日 (二) 21:31 (CST)
