A lot of Hong Kong reporters have changed their working venue from Hong Kong to Mainland China, however, the deputy chief editor of Hong Kong Economic Journal said that there was a big cultural difference between Hong Kong and China.

Companies could buy news in China

Andy Ngai said that the trend of red pockets in mainland China was very famous so that companies could buy news with money. Ngai said that companies could use a large amount of budget to invite all types of media included newspaper, radio, TV and magazines to report the events. Companies could also invite government officers to promote their product. Ngai said that there were many low quality products in China because the news were not report the facts. "The culture of red pockets will never disappear even 100 years later", Ngai said.

Relationship is more important than law in China

Ngai said that having a good relationship with China’s officers was the most important thing. Ngai used the process of approval as an example. If the journalist was a friend with the officer, the approval process would be very fast. However, the process of approval would be very long because the officers would use a more strict and hard methods to approve the magazines if the journalist and officer was not friend.
