[Ada To, Tuesday 30 April 2019]

Short videos will become a major trend in the future. However, Tik Tok videos may be intercepted in content auditing.

ByteDance Ltd, Tik Tok Planning Director (South China), Patton CHEN have a talk at Hong Kong Shue Yan University Weekly Meeting taking about Tik Tok.

Chen said, “In the past, Chinese Internet copied from foreign countries, but now it is the short video mode of foreign Internet copied Tik Tok. There should be a lot of similar applications coming up in the future.” He pointed out that Tik Tok has been so successful because of current trends, and many foreign companies have referred to its production concept.

Tik Tok was founded in 2016. In January 2019, it ranked among the top three downloads in App Store and Google Play worldwide. It is estimated that trembler will gain 71.3 million new users in January.

“Video about Candlelight Vigil for June 4 Massacre may not be on the shelves in the Mainland. As a China short video platform, Tik Tok is inevitable under the inland censorship system,” he said.

He said, “The internal audit of inappropriate content, first machine audit, then the manual review of above one-third of the video. If there are too many users report will be off the shelves.” If there is illegal content in the film, they will hand it over to the relevant government law enforcement agencies.

Chen said, “In terms of music copyright, Tik Tok will cooperate with original musicians and sign contracts. It will be directly removed from the shelves when it has not copyrighted.”

“The actual use of Tik Tok is not confined to young people, which is the misunderstanding of most people,” he said. According to their data, more than three in ten users over 24 years old use Tik Tok.--165018 2019年5月1日 (三) 18:01 (CST)
